Vision Boards

Hey y’all! Happy New Year, 2018! It’s a brand new year, a new start to a new you! Everyone is making New Years Resolutions and creating a vision for the new year, and well like everyone else I like to do it as well.

I’ve done it alittle differently this year and have really thought out what I would like to accomplish, hopefully in realistic terms but who knows. I still have a lot of the same wishes as last year but seeing how I didn’t accomplish them or even attempt to I’m trying to decrease my expectations or omit them completely. For those ideas I’m giving myself time to think it over and mediate on them some more. They will just be added goals later on, which is the irony of it all. We wait till the new year, or next month or next week or maybe next Monday even though it’s only Tuesday! But we can start at anytime! So basically yeah I’ve made some goals and have things to accomplish but I’m going to see how this month pans out before I leap into anything above and beyond seeing it in stone.

So anyway my actual vision board is not yet completed although I am collecting photos and words to put into action but I thought I would just write about last year’s board, and share with you a quick little inspiration collage I made myself for my planner while preparing for my board.

Ok I can not find the photo of my board nor can I take a picture right now so yeah that sucks. If you are reading this part you know I did not edit first!

So here’s my inspiration board. I like creating things like this because it reminds me not to be so hard on myself, and to give myself grace. Seriously y’all I had no clue what grace meant until recently. I had only heard people say ‘grace’ before a meal or about an elegant woman until I got into recovery and now I always hear the women saying ‘But for the Grace of God there go I’.

Seriously have you ever heard a proverbial saying and not had a clue what it meant? Me like a thousand times! Apparently I didn’t have any religious upbringing, not to mention an ounce of humility!

This proverb is an expression of humility; in using it, a speaker acknowledges that outside factors (such as God’s grace, or his upbringing) have played a role in his success in life.

Woah, hold up, I was pretty sure I had humbled myself during all the work I had done on myself in the previous 3 years but boy was I wrong! And this past year of being a very imperfect mother has shown me that! But I am absolutely too hard on myself more than I’ve ever been on others. People always say why do I talk so negative about myself, would I speak of a friend in that manner? No way! I give my friends grace and so I need to learn to give myself grace in all things.

If you haven’t heard of One Little Word by Ali Edwards I suggest checking it out as I am going to do for a first this year. I had a word last year but I think I’m going to check out the workshop she offers so I can really focus on this word. Not only do I need to allow myself to feel the Grace from my higher power, others and myself but I’ve also read about being a graceful woman and I could use that in my life as well.

Definition: charm, loveliness
Synonyms: address, adroitness, agility, allure, attractiveness, balance, beauty, breeding, comeliness, consideration, cultivation, decency, decorum, dexterity, dignity, ease, elegance, etiquette, finesse, finish, form, gracefulness, lissomeness, lithesomeness, mannerliness, manners, nimbleness, pleasantness, pliancy, poise, polish, propriety, refinement, shapeliness, smoothness, style, suppleness, symmetry, tact, tastefulness
Antonyms: clumsiness, ineptness, tactlessness

Other than that my main goals for the new year are teaching myself letter recognition and usage, doing fun activities with my children and buying my first home! Those are the concrete things I’m going to put on my vision board. Which I will write a more in depth post about creating a vision board for yourself soon, I just wanted to get this out so I could say Happy New Year to my followers, thank you all so much for subscribing and reading my posts. I promise to post more often this year and to read more as well, including all your wonderful blogs! May 2018 bring you the greatest blessings you can imagine receiving and many more!

  1. Great message! Yes, we are too hard on ourselves.
I like the vision board concept! I think I will get little foam stickers and mark each inspiration every time I feel I have made effort toward something. Maybe if I get a certain amount of stickers, I can get a caramel macchiato? πŸ™‚ happy new year! 😍
